UCT Physics
MSc and PhD funding
08 March 2008
You are expected to find funds to pay for your fees, travel and
living costs while studying for your degree.
The UCT Physics Department does not do this for you.
We suggest several possibilities:
- The
NRF
offers prestige, equity and sepcial skills scholarships. These are
to students from SADC countires. There are a small number of scholarships from
students from elsewhere in Africa.
- your
UCT Physics supervisor
may have a research grant to which are attached grant-holder
scholarships. This is usually only for students from SADC countries
- iThemba LABS may partially fund (ie top-up) students whose work will take place at iThemba LABS
(eg students in experimental nuclear physics)
-
NITheP
(the National Institute for Theoretical Physics) has funds for
degrees in theoretical physics
- organizations such as
DAAD
and
TWAS
may offer scholarships
- the
University of Cape Town Postgraduate Funding Office
can give you
advice on what scholarships to apply for.
